MASTERTON TECHNICAL SCHOOL

MEETING OF MANAGERS. The monthly meeting of the Managers of the Masterton Technical School was held last evening. There were present,— Messrs W. H. Jackson, E. Feist, C E. Daniell, and H. J. O'Leary. Before commencing business, the chairman (Mr W. H. Jackson) took: the opportunity of welcoming Mr O'Leary to his seat on the Board. Mr O'Leary, in responding, stated that' he would do all in his power to advance the object that the Managers j had an view, viz., the advancement of the interests of pupils attending the j technical classes. , ~ ;

The Treasurer reported a credit balance at date of £l6O 6s lid. It was resolved that an acknowledgment of the valuable services rendered to the school by Mr Whddington in his'capacity as a member of the Board of Managers throughout a long term of years be placed on record, and that Mr Waddington be advised accordingly^ On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Cr O'Leary, it was decided to open the classes during the week , commencing Monday, 18th March. It was further resolved that intending pupils and their parents and friends be invited to attend at the school at 7.30 p.m. on Monday and Tuesday evenings, 18th and 19th insts.. for the purpose of emolument in the respective classes, and of receiving addresses and advice from the Managers and instructors in reference to the syllabus of classes for the current year.

In respect of the general classes on .the. programme, the secretary was instructed to notify last year's instructors of their re-appointmentmeut to their respective classes for the ensuing year, provided that they are willing to accept such appointment. The chairman reported that arrangements, were being completed with the Wellington Education Board providing for the instruction of a teachers' art class under Mr E. 1\ Fenton, the Technical School's art instructor.

The scale of fees to he charged in respect of the "various classes, and the salaries to be paid to the respective instructors, were fixed upon the same basis as that of last year. In connection with this matter,, "intending pupils are requested to note that all fees are payable stritlc yin advance.

The matter of arranging for the establishment of a class in veterinary science was left in the hands of the chairman and Mr O'Leary, with power to act.

Authority was given to the secretary to advertise the opening of the classes.
