TRIPOLITAN WAR

ITALIAN VICTORY TURKS GALLANT RESISTANCE. 500 ARABS KILLED. (Received Last Night, 9.40 o'clock.) ROME, March 1. It is officially reported.that the Italians occupied Margheb. They secretly assembled at daybreak and silently advanced to the foot of the heights, when a dash was made on the position, which was held by Turks and Arabs. A desparate resistance was made until a bavonet charge killed the majority of the defenders, including the Turkish Commander and the Arab Chief. An hour and a half; after the commencement of the fight the Italians were entrenched on the heights, Which were attacked by 1500 Turks and Arabs throughout the day. The Italians replied with a murderous fire from machine guns of the artillery at point blank range, causing terrific execution, and drove them oft, killing 500 Arabs.
