HOTELS AND LICENSES.
In answer to a question in the House of : Representatives yesterday concerning hotels which had been removed by the Commission from licensed to r.o-license districts, Sir Joseph Ward said there would be cample time after the.beginning of next session to make provision for safeguarding the interests of those affected. As .the licenses will expire on June 31st, it is a'question >Yli<?ther there will be ample t'ttlfl to introduce amending legislation.- Moreover, the introduction of such legislation would mean the opening tip of the whole licensing question, for any measure for affording relief would have to be retrospective.
