LICENSING COMMITTEES.
Is Masterton, as a "dry area," entitled to elect a Licensing ■ Committee? Most reasonable people would assume that it was not. Adivce has been received from the Crown Law Office, however, 'that it is necessary to elect a committee in Oamaru, where there are no licenses. If it is necessary in Oamaru, should. it not also be necessary in Masterton ? The point is one which should be cleared up. On the face of it, the election of a committee without administrative functions would he a piece of useless and unnecessary, expense.
