CHINESE FRUIT.
' With all its fads and follies, Christchurch has the reputation, of being itohe only city in New Zealand in which the Chinese fruiterer is not allowed to exist. Last week a Chinese fruit shop was opened in the Cathedral City, and the shop has since been kept under sucli close surveillance by a hostile crowd that customers have been afraid to call. In other centres the "yellow, peril," as it is termed, is supported with the cash of the very .people who, are loudest in their demand for a "white New Zealand."
