Masterton did well at AVoodville, Sir Knox and Sir Solo winning, the former the Cup, and the latter two hack races. Sir Knox showed a dash of brilliancy at the end of the Woodville Cup, and finished so well that there is no doubt as to his staying powers.

Good judges consider that Sir Knox would have had a. good chance had he been entered in the Wanganui Cup. Sir Solo showed his best form at Woodville, and may be marked down to win a good race this autumn. Bally Shannon is having a »pell in the paddock, and will be taken up for the Easter meetings. The son of Merriwee-The Shannon showed, improved (form, in running second to Seatondale in the big race on the second day of the Woodville meeting, after having anything but a good passage.

That consistent hurdler, Gaelic, has again been taken up, and will be competing in the hurdle events at the Feilding Easter meeting.

A number of local horses are engaged at the "Whakataki meeting on Thursday w.?ek. it is expected that a good number of Maaterton "sports" will journey to the seaside meeting, where one is always assured of a good day's .sport. T. Higgins is keeping Ladino up to his work, and the Sir Laddo colt will be a competitor at the Dannevirke meeting. Sinapis was one of the well backed division at' Woodville, but railed to gain a place, although he was running in at the finish. Ho is engaged at Nelson next month. Umfetfided, Bronze and Midnight Sun are the ruling favourite** for the Wanganui Cup. with Royal Scotch, Gladiole and Boanerges at a short price in the Flying. Hector Gray rode three winners' at the concluding day of the Dtmedin

meet-nig. ■ Altear and Bally Shannon paid good dividends at the Woodville meet-

Stevens, who won the Hurdles at Woodville on the lirsb day, and ran second on the concluding day, is likcly to prove more than .useful over the battens.

Ncdra was well supported at Woodville, bivt failed to jump well, and was never prominent. A number of Mastenton sportsmen intend being present at the Wanganui Cup meeting.
