FIRE AT RAILWAY STATION
BENZLXE IN A TRUCK: IGNITES. A fire broke out at 11.15 last night, at the Masterton railway station, in a truck loaded with cases of benzine. One of the railway porters, on hearing a dripping sound, coming from one of tho trucks in the station yard, proceeded to examine the track and ascertain the cause of the sound. He put his lamp on tho floor of the truck, iand the benzine, which had evidently been leaking for some time, immediately ignited. Tho railway fire extinguisher was requisitioned, but the fire was not got under until the truck was drawn into the engine yard, when the hose was turned on the 'burning oil, which, after a time, burned itself out. Three case? of benzine were destroyed. The truck was over-carried to Masterten, being consigned to a Carterton merchant. Tho railway employees are to be commended for the prompt way in which they got tho fire under hand.
