THE ART OF HARRY W. KIRKWOOD
Rarely has Mastertort had tJie opportunity of viewing such a fine col- I lection of oil paintings. These pic- j tures compriso some of the chief j ■beauty spots in the Dominion, and are well worthy of inspection. Notably amongst the number are two very fine sunset effects, one entitled "Swamp, Taieri," No. 21 being a beautiful production and typical of the glorious .southern sunsets. The other, "The Motueka River," No. 1, is full of warm tints, and in. this picture the artist is seen at his host. "Wangaiiui River," No. 8, is a very faithful sketch, and "Mercury Island," No. 10, and No. 29, are remarkably clover pictures. There are also four chamiing Jittle pictures, which were awarded! medals at Home, and needless to say these are the centre of a good deal of attraction. In all 29 pictures will be offered for sale by auction at 2.30 on-Saturday, 24ith fast., and the sale should attract the attention of the art loving public. The pictures will be Bold without reserve, and catalogues can ib-o obtained at the shop recently occupied by Mi as Rive. The pictures will be on view to-day, and the public are invited to inspect.
