SHIP'S CREW ON STRIKE

INTERESTING TEST CASE. MEN FINED. (Received Last Night, 9.45 o'clock.) BRISBANE, February 21. In the' Police .Court the owners of the steamer Titawa proceeded against the boatswain for refusing duty. . The case is a test one, the whole crew having struck. The Magistrate held that tho crew appeared to have two captains, one on land, and one at sea. They took the law into their own hands and refused to obey tihe sea captain. Counsel for the plaintiffs said that the men had been iUnadvised victims of people ashore, and the company did not desire that the men should be imprisoned. A fine-of £2, with costs, with the alternative .-of. seven days' imprisonment was" imposed.
