MARTINBOROUGH SALE

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having .held a most successful sale in their Ma-rtinborough yards on the 15th insfc. Stock came forward well up to advertised numbers, and the yarding comprised 3500 sheep and lambs of varying quality. The special entry of Mr J. McLeod's "Whaikapuni" ewes, .which have for the past four years been offered and sold through our yards, come forward in excellent order .and condition,;vand the different lines 'offered elicited' keen competition at auction, and a "record price for the Wairarapa was again constituted for ■4-year old ewes, tlio: "Whakaipuni" : selling under the hammer at the satisfactory price of. 16s -6d. The 2tooth owes rvvcre also a nice even line and well grown. Bidding for these was very keen, and after spirited competition the line was knocked down at 15s 4d for the first run., and 15s for .the second. The 5-year old owes also brought a record price, the line selling at 145.. All lots offered-on.account other vendors sold readily at prices ahead of lato rates,'and the sale all through was most satisfactory. The attendance of the public was good, and although heavy rain fell all day, in•terest in the 'said was weM maintained up till the time the last pen, was sold. Other sales were as follows: —On account of Mr Stanley Parker,: 4-tooth ewes, 14s 9d; 2-tooth ewes, 13s lid; 2tooth. wet-hors, gbed, 13s. On account of Messrs Broad/bent and Cruickshank, 22-tooth ewes, 13s 2-tooth wethers, * 13s. On account of. other vendors: —Good rape lamb®, 9s Id to 9a 4d; f.m. ewes, 8s v 6d to 10s sd; inferior ewes,. 5s 2d' to '6s lOd.
