THE FIVE MILLION LOAN.
Sir Joseph Ward gave the House yesterday some belated information concerning the cost of raising the live million loan. He explained that the information had only just come to hand, and he lva-s not in a position to give it before. H«.> omitted to state, however, what was the cause of the delay. Nor did lie deem it necessary, until pressed, to give the whole information in his possession. There was no excuse for an exhibition of temper when lie was asked a civil question about the loan, and it was hardly dignified for a Primp Minister who is discredited to talk of his opponents making a "holy mess of things." If everything in connection with the loan is serene, as it should be, the House and country should not be denied a single detail.
