THOMPSON-PAYNE PICTURES.

There was a good attendance at the change of pictures at the/ Foresters' Hall last evening. The star film was "The Siege of Calais." The picture, though of great length, contained in each foot of film some interesting scenes taken from the great historical event, Edward HI. is seen with his men forcing Calais to surrender. After ten months, those within the walls find it necessary to send to the French King, asking for help. This is done, hut when the French King sends an army they, are routed by the English. Then comes the surrender of Calais and Edward's request "for the heads of six of the most notable townsmen, and the heartrending circumstances surrounding it. Finally, there is Edward's wife's successful efforts to have the Kix lives spared. The picture is in natural tint?. Charles Dickens' "Christmas Carol," was greatly enjoyed. It was splendidly acted, and the familiar characters were present-! Ed with realism. The film was a lengthy one, and gave lovers of Dickens a better idea of the story than could be gained hy reading. "The .j Invasion of Tripoli" was most interesting. On the sandy country could be seen thousands of troops on par- 1 ade. Another view showed the soldiers under canvas, and a warship was seen, off the coast, bombarding the town. A very picturesque scenic was "Wye- Valley." The usual collection of interesting items was shown in the G'aumorit Graphic, Amongst these [ was to be seen some of the preparations for the Delhi Durbar. "The Show Girl" told a story of love and sorrow. Other pictures of iutorest : were "The Voyager," "The Sheriff's Daughter," "Indian Blood" (dramas), "Wonderful Eye," "Jane and her Furniture,"' "One Hundred Dollar Bill," and "The Dog Trainer" (comics). The children's matinee will take place on Saturday afternoon, at '2.30 o'clock.
