MEETING OF GENERAL COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the General Committee of tho Masterton A. ■uul P. Association was held on bat-m-day Inst, there being P resen *:7. Messrs H. Mr D Car-elberg. chairman of the Luncheon Committee, moved in accordance with notice given that t e in favour cf selling the privilege for afternoon tea be rescinded. In peaking to the resolution, Mr C-is>lhon' stated that the Lunchcon Commit had made ample provision for supplying the public with luncheon and afternoon tea. Mr Jame:.; seconded the resolution, which was carried unanimously.

Tho Carterton Borough Council and Maryborough Town Board •wrote statins.'; that they would accede to the Association's request t'> Proclaim: February 21st ("People s Day of the Show) a holiday.— ft was decided to thank the local bodies for their consideration. ~..,, Sir J. G. Ward (Prime Minister) acknowledged the receipt of a complimentary ticket, and expressed 3ns reI .Tret at his inability to be present' at the show, as Parliament would probably be- sitting.— Received. Mr J. L\ Cruickshank acknowledged the kindness of the Association in making him a life menvhor. Mr "J. 'h. Johnston, of Pahnerston North, forwarded a donation of £1 Is, for which he was thanked. A letter was read from the Masterton Technical School Managers, inviting members to be present at the annual meeting on' February ttlst, and i to take part in tho election of managers. Several members of the Committee were asked if they would eonsent to nomination on tho Board, but all declined the honour. No action] was, therefore, taken in the matter.' Mr W. C. Quinnell, M.R.C.\.S., advised that he intended starting veterinary classes in Masterton, if sufficient inducement offered. He suggested that a class of sixteen pupils be formed, at a fee of £1 Is per pupil. —A communication was received from | the Technical School Managers on the same subject.— Several members expressed the opinion that the matter ! was one for the Technical School, Mr Summerell pointing out that the school could' claim a Government subsidy.— It- was decided to inform Mr Quinnell that, while the Association cannot accept tho responsibility for forming classes, it will dp all in its power to secure pupils. ■ LUNCHEON. COMMITTEE. . Tho. Luncheon' Committee's report, which showed that arrangements had been completed for the-catering for the show, was adopted. GROUND COMMITTEE. The report of.the meeting of the Ground Committee was read.. The Chairman reported progress on the ground arrangements and additions at Solway, everything being well up-to-date. It was resolved to suggest the permanent roofing with iron of the sixteen bull pens, to be covered. Mr Har.per reported upon tho (improvements made in the Produce Hall, under his direction. It was suggested that meals be supplied to servants in charge of stock at 4s 6d per day,, oils 6d per meal.— The report was adopted. FINANCE: -COMMITTEE.
The report of tlie meeting of the Finance Committee was read and approved. An application was .received 'from the New Zealand Kennel Club, •for a subscription of £2 2s, instead of £1 Is, on account of the Challenge classes being allotted to .this Association. The Secretary'was instructed' to .write explaining that the Challenge classes "were included at the Kennel Club's request. The Treasurer's statement showed receipts for the month amounting to £771 13s, and expenditure £72 7,s 3d. The debit balance at date was £1134 8s 7d. Ac-' counts amounting to £2OO 17s' 8d were passed for payment.
