Messrs Abraham and- Williams, Ltd., report having conducted a most successful dispersal sale of Stud Romney and Lincoln sheep on behalf of Messrs McGregor Bros., at Masterton yesterday. The sale was held on the Solway Showgrounds, the pens under the sheep pavilions being availed of, and the ram ring utilised for the purposes of selling. All the stock was under cover, and this convenience was appreciated by all concerned, enabling the sale to be put through with every despatch. In all, 775 sheep '.were brought under . the hammer, about half of each breed, the Romneys being, disposed of first sold within, an, hour,. fyhen an adjournment was made, for. lunch* The Lincolus were then submitted, and disposed of within one hour and twenty minutes. The attendance was a large and representative one; buyers from outside districts being prominent, and business at auction animated. Contrary to expectations, he Romneys sold exceedingly well, especially the aged ewes, the vendors expressing great satisfaction at the averages realised. Some exceptionally fine juu g Lincoln ewes were offered, but the demand was not so keen as anticipated, and the shearlings and two-shear sheep must be ■considered Aery reasonable at front one to three, and one and a quarter to one and a half guineas trespectively. In both breeds some good prices were obtained for Studs. A two-shear Romney was purchased by Mr Guy Williams-at 21 guineas, and a three-shear Romney, "Noddy," by Mr Norman Beetham at 10 guineas. Mi- W. H. Buick paid 20 guineas for a one-shear sheep. A three-shear Lincoln ram, "Compact," was purchased by Mr Holmes. Tiraumea, at 26 iniineas; a three-shear Lincoln, J "Ngutuawa," at .30 guineas by Mr, I K. Dalryinple ; and a two-shear stud by Mr R. T. Batley, Mt/awhango, at 27J- guineas.
