OFF VICTORIAN COAST IN A DENSE FOG. (Received Last Night, 10.55 o'clock.) MELBOURNE, February 8. A collision between the steamer Potomac, 'outward bound for London with a full cargo of wheat, and the White Star steamer Georgic, inward bound, occurred in a dense fog early this morning, thirty miles east of Gape Otway. ' The Georgic noticed the Potomac crossing her bows too late to avoid an impact, and received a sliding blow, causing a big dent five feet long and Four feet .wide. The Potomac received a big 'shallow dent high on the, starboard side, and ten or twelve feet of iron decks were bulged. Both vessels came to port.
A portion of the Georgic's cargo had to he discharged, in 'order to effect repairs.
