RIMUTAKA DEVIATION.

The Masterton Chamber of Commerce made a great noise a few months back concerning the deviation of the Rimutaka railway. Petitions were numerously signed, and resolutions unanimously passed. But, so far, all the noise has remained on this side of the Rimutaka. . Why is an effort not made to interest the Wellington merchants in the matter, and to get their support to the petiions when they are presented to Parliament? The time is now ripe for action. A new Government coming into power will probably look upon this undertaking as a business proposition. Let us get to work, and show that our request is not only reasonable, but has behind it the force of public opinion in. the city.
