THE TRAMWAY STRIKE.
The tramway strike in Wellington is, happily, fizzling out. A basis of agreement has been arrived at, whereby Jlnspector Fuller has '. been removed ironi-.the service. The men object, however, to -the statement that he is being removed "at his- own request." Upon these words the whole position now seems to ■ hang. When- the Council meets this' morn? ing, it wall probably be.arranged that these words shall be deleted. .It may confidently be hoped that the trams will be running on Monday. I-nspec-tor Fuller has covered himself with honour in the attitude he has taken, and the Council surrenders heither its dignity nor authority. The men have been foqlish—-that is all.'. . .
