BALDERDASH.

Ministers of the discredited Liberal party must be hard pvt' to it for something to talk a-bout when they utter such inanities as those which ore ivsorted to have fallen from the lips of the Minister for; Agriculture at Papanui the other evening. The Hon. T. Mackenzie said that "filection after election was won. especially at the second ballot, by motor-cars. They swooped, down upon every unfortunate Liberal candidate like •swainis of exaggerated locusts, devouring all they could get/' Now, everybody "knows that in Wellington City, at anyrate, every motor . car available was ran in the interests of the Government candidates at the first ballot, and the 'Re-form candidates suffered because they could not get their voters to the poll. At the second ballot, petrol was used against petrol, and the strongest side won. It has yet to be demonstrated that it is a crime-for a candidate to convey his supporters to a polling pJaee in a motor car. If the Minister wishes to infer that -people sell their votes for a ride in a motor car, he offers a deliberate insult to the electors.
