FRACTURE OF THE SKULL

An inquest was held to-diay by Dr A. MmArthiur, District Coroner, touching the death of Gelorge Gunther, formerly of Masrterton, who <Med firom injuries alllteged to have been caused by a blow delivered by Edward Frainois Mtoffrtt.

After the hearing of the evidence of the medical witnesses, the Coroner returned a verdict that death was caused by a fracture of tlie sfeull on the left side', and. a rupture of the mridldlSe mendngali artery on the side, causing hemorrhage, with subsequent comipression of. the brain. As fai 1 as Moffitt was concerned, it was acasc- of pure mi sadventure. '
Moffitt appeared at the Magistrate's" Oourfc this morning, with manirfflatigjh'fcea', and was remanded, "baiil! heiing allowed in a sum of £llsO.
