Sir JosephrWard left for Invercargill last night. Sir John Findlay has gone to Auckland. The Hon. T. Mackenzie is already wooing the suffrages of Egmont. Other Ministers are hurrying to their homes. Mr C. J. Kent-Johnston, who has been clerk to the Featherston Town Board for the past seven years, and lias filled other responsible positions in that township, is about to leave for Parnell, to start in business on his own account.
, His Grace Arclfbishop Redwood will bold a confirmation service in St. Patrick's Church Mastertoh, to-mor-row morning.
. News was received in- Masterton yesterday of the death of Mrs H. Sar-r gent, who died rather suddenly on Sunday evening at Wairoa, Hawke's Bay. Mr H. Sargent, her husband, died last June. Mrs Sargent was a very old settler of Hawke's Bay, and was in the Wairoa during the Maori war troubles, and had. some very, hard times. Mr Sargent was seventy years of age, and leaves two sons and three daughters. Mrs T. C. Webb, of. Masterton, being one of the latter. j
