HOMING PIGEON CLUB.

RACE FROM TIMAJRU.

, The Masterton Homing Pigeon Qlub flew a very successful race from Timaru-yesterday. Owing to a delay in trans-shipment at Lyttelton, the birds did not reach Timaru until ll a.m. on Saturday, and the liberator (Mr. Finch) wisely decided to hold them over until the morning, so as to enable them to be fed and watered . The birds were liberated at, 6 a.m., in fine -weather, and the result was a ibrilliant fly. The winning bird (Mr AV. Hoar's "Beetemal") "clocked. in" at 2 seconds to two, 1-iU.s doing the distance of 327 miles airline in exactly two seconds short of eight hours. • Seven lofts were represented, and ,six "clocked in" within the time limit. Mr J. Bradbury acted as judge, and the following «re the details:—

< Mr W. Hoar's "BcetemnU" 1211 yds per min. Mr A. Miller's Verissa, 1220 yds per min. Mr F. Bossoii's "The Brick" 1209 yds per min. Mr J. Dixon's "Waipona," 1201 yards per min. Mr W, Drake's "Little Mary," 1197 yds per min. Mr \V. Gouriay's "Avalanche," 1196 yds per min.

This race was for the No. 1 South hamper birds. The No. 2 North birds .will ho hampered to-night for the Frankton Junction race.

The following is the position of the meinfbers in the general aggregate:— W. Drake 20, J. Dixon 18; W. Hoar 13, F. Rosson 12, A. Miller 11, W. Dowling 7, R. Person 5, .T. Wick ens 4, W. C. Grourlay and S. Hoar 3 each.
