The Masterton Sunday School celebrated its third anniversary yesterday, when the services 'were of a specal nature. The pulpit was occupied morning and evening by the Rev. M. Bawden Harris, of Alicetown, Wellington. The church Was tastefully decorated for the occasion with spring flowers, and the itigihg by the children reflected great credit on the eonductpr ,(JVlr D. B. Clough), and th? organist (Miss Lexie Green) and also on the,children themselves. ; ; .'
The Rev. Mr Harris based his morning's address on the words from Luke 1-66, "What-manner of child i-.liall this be?"
The afternoon service took the form of a "Pleasant Sunday Afternoon." There were special children's addresses by the Rev J. E. Parsons, x)f Kuripuni, and the 'Rev. Mr Harris, and hymns were .sung by . the children. In the evening the Rev. Mr Harris gave a address on the subject, of "The Legacy of Faith," t]ie text being taken from 11. Timothy 1-5, "When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee." The preacher pointed out the great power of example, which may be used by parents to influence their children in keeping them in the right path when they go out into the great world.
The anniversary services will be celebrated to-morrow evening, when special hymns will, again be rendered by the children, and the distribution of prizes will take place.
