THE COUNCIL'S PROTEST.
The protest entered by the Legislative Council oil Saturday last against important measures ibeing rushed through Parliament in the dying hours of the session, mil be endorsed hy all sections of the community. It is simply scandalous that legislationof a far-reaching and contentious character should bo introduced at a period when mem'bers are not in a fit state to analyse it. As the Hon. Mr Sinclair rightly pointed out, it is "a travesty upon legislation." The Council showed its disapprobation in a practical manner, 'by throwing out an important Bill. The electors should show their disapproval in a similar manner /by throwing out the Ministry which was responsible for the Bill.
