CONFUSING THE ISSUES.
An attempt is being made in certain electorates in New Zealand to introduce the licensing question into general politics. Some candidates do not conceal the fact that they are endeavouring to climib into Parliament on the shoulders of the No-license party. It need hardly be said that iiich candidates are political frauds and interlopers. The licensing question has very little bearing upon the practical politics of. the day. Parlia-. ment has already given the people the fight, to determine thai issue at ,t£e iballot-box. That ■ being ( So, it- is absurd for oandi'dates to seek snip-, port on account of their No-license proclivities. Men who do so must be as bankrupt of principle as they are of political knowledge. It is a poor compliment to the No-license party to suggest tliaf it can be .bought politically in the manner described. The ballot-box will show clearly that it cannot.
