IRON AND STEEL.
The Government, in the dying hours of the session, has an Iron and Steel Industry Bill, whL'h lias for its chief object the conversion of the Parapara leases, winch have been hawked unsuccessfully, so it is .reported, all over the world, into profitable undertakings. If the Bill becomes law it will be a good thing for a number of speculators. But the advantage to the Dominion will be problematical. The bonus system is in danger of being run to death, and it may develop, in the long fun, into something! perilously approaching "graft."
