THE PRICE OF SPORT.
Nobody objects to a reasonable amount of sport, provided it is taken at convenient hours, and not at the r-f other people. When, how-
ever, .the State servioes are disloca ted, and the general public is put to inconvenience for the sake of a; few patrons of the turf, it is about time that a sharp protest was entered. There can be no excuse whatever for the alteration of the ordinary railway time-table "jetween JMasterton and Wellington on the occasion of race meetings at Trentham, and the delays iwhich take place on the journey to the city are quite inexcusable. Tlxe convenience of travellers should not ibe sacrificed to that of -a few race-goers. That isuch a thing shotiid ibe possible is a reflection upon the management of the railways.
