FRUIT-GROWING INDUSTRY
MOVEMENT BY M.ASTERTON.
At tho meeting of th© Council of the Masterton Camber of Commerce yesterday, Mr James Brown introduced the question of fruitgrowing. He stated that a Fruifc'growing Association had 'been formed, ■at Greytown, and he saw no reason nvihjy a similar institution should not be established in Master-ton. 'the question of laibour would no doubt crop up, and th<j price of land was higher here than in the iLower VolJey. At the same time, he did not think that either of these were serious difficulties. There was land in this part of the district admirably adapted to "fruit-growing. He moved that the secretary obtain information from the Greytown and other Associations on the matter.
Mr G. H. I'erry seconded the resolution.
Several members expressed the opinion that the industry could be profitably established in this district. The resolution was put and carried unanimously.
