THROUGH-BOOKING
AN IMPORTANT PROPOSAL. At the meeting of the Council of Hhe Mastertoon Chamber <xf Commerce yesterdav, a letter was read from the "Wellington Chamber, covering a resolution in favo ir of instituting a -through railway and steamer booking system. 'l'his had been advocated 'by the Farmers' Union, and it was thought that such a system rwould be oif great value to the commercial world. For instance, a parcel might he booked right through from Hastingsi to Timaru. The Secretary pointed out that the Masterton Chamber, iu 1910, had advocated a scheme of this sort. In reply to its letter, it had then been informed that the matter was receiving careful consideration, and enquiry was Ibeing .made. Mr Daniell stated that this had ~been urged on several occasions by ifche Ma sterton. Chamber. Mr Carey moved that the proposal be given this Chamber's support, and that the secretary convey the resolution to the Wellington Chamber. Mr Summer ell seconded the motion, which was carried unanimously.
