AN ABSURD STATEMENT.
Speaking at Wanganui the other evening, Mr Mackay, the Mayor of that town, who is offering himteelf as an Indepeixdent- Liberal, made the somewihat astounding statement that "the Opposition has no policy to offer, and no men to carry any policy througjh," The intelligent electors of Wanganui will surely not swallow such an absurd declaration a 8 this, vfhy, the Opposition is tihe only party in the present campaigu wihich ha* dared to outline a policy. The Ministry, which Mr Mackay would apparently support, has not tihe shadow of a policy. And, as for tjie personnel of the Opposition,there men on 'thiat side of the House wihose mental and physical capacity places them head and shoxilders albove the present fortuitous conglomeration, which occupies Cabinet rank.
