The death is announced by ' cable from London, pf Mr Harry Rickards, the well-known vaudeville proprietor. ' Mr. J. Harold Moore,'solictor j "has consented to contest the Timaru seat in- the Opposition .interest.
Mr. R. J. Dagg, of Masterton, will act as a judge at the Hamilton show, and Mr. W. Perry at the Poverty Bay show.
Mr A. Jackson, a well-known Hiikanui farmer, has sold his property to Mr Reay, of Pahiatua, ajid intends leaving for the Waikato.
Mr Gardiner, sawmiller, of Makuri, will probably be a candidate for the Makuri Riding at the forthcoming election of the Pahiatua Countv Counl cil.
Mr C. A. Poulsen, formerly of Masterton, who has made an excellent recovery from his recent illness, commences duty on the staff of the Manawatu Standard to-day.
Mr. A. W. Hogg, M.P., returned to Masterton on Saturday last. His many friends will be pleased to know that he is, improving ia health, a!nd hopes soon to be able to get about among his constituents.' "
Mr D. Cuddie, Dairy Commissioner, visited Mangatainoka. last week.
Miss Sa.wtell, who has been charge imrse at the Pahiatua Hospital for some time, has tendered her l'esigna-* tion.
Mr. Sweeney, who is leaving Pahiatua for Queensland, for the benefit of his health, has tendered his resignation as a member of the Masterton A. and P. Association. At the meeting of the Association on Saturday last, it was decided to place on record the services rendered the Association by MrTSweenoy, and to wish him a speedy restoration to health. The members of the Y.M.C.A. in Masterton yesterday took the opportunity of farewelling Mr A. E. Wainwright. in view of his departure to the Waikato district next Wednesday. During Mr Waiuwright's stay in Masterton lie has rendered the Association excellent assistance, especially as Secretary to the, Bible Class, and as a member of the Board. Members heartily supported the chairman in his eulogistic reference to the departing member's good qualities;. Mr Wainwright feelingly responded to the general expressions of goodwill extended to him for his future welfare. Mr H, Pearce lias been appoinetd Secretary to the Bible Class.
