RAILWAYMEN'S PETITION
TO BE CONSIDERED BY PARLIAMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association. CHRISTOHUROH, Last Night. A member of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants informed a reporter yesterday afternoon that a telegram had been received from Messrs Davey, Witty and Isitt, M.P.'s, to the effect that the Government had changed its mind regarding the hearing- of the petition of the second division of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants. The telegrams also stated that the petitions would be .heard some time this week. The news was received with general satisfaction by the men, whose meeting of protest! to-day had promised to be of a sensational character. No further action will now be taken until the result of the hearing .of the petition is made known.
