A QUESTION OF NOTICE.

TWO CLAIMS DISMISSED. .... At the Masterton Court yesterday, Lillian Frances Oroabde claimed from Albert Hawker Eddy £3 10s,' and. from - Mmond Flavjn *lßs. _.. The claim, against. Flavin was for .;> one" week's-"hoard and residence in lieu of notice, in the other case it was -alleged that there .was in, addition a certain amount .owing in airrears. (Mr W. G. HaaidnNe-wton appeared /for plaintiff, and Mr G. H. Cullen for Iboth the defendants. fMrs Oosibie said that sQie expected Flavin and Eddy (to give a week's notice 'before xhey left. Both gave notice tliree days ibefore they left. Witness also stated that Eddy was in tan-ear in his payment Flavin istated [that it was mentioned to Mrs Crosbie five days-' beforehand that they were going batching. Mrs Crosbie had. stated that • witness had come on short notice, and 6he did -not mind hdm going on I short notice. . A. iH. Eddy denied that he was in arrear. He wa-s away for several days during April and May. for •which, at Mrs Crosbie's suggestion, deductions'were made. He had repeatedly lent money to Mrs Crosbie and (squared up at the end of the [ month. Mrs CVoisbie had not objectetl to the short notice. 1 Plaintiff was- non-suited in both claims, without costs. , |
