STATE NOTE ISSUE.

When Sir Joseph Ward mentioned the State note issue in his now celebrated catch-vote Budget, nobody supposed for a moment that he intended placing a Bill! upon the Statute Book this session. He has introduced the measure, had it read a second time as a matter of form, and shelved it until another session. He will probably do the same thing with several other .measures which he outlined in the 'Financial Statement. It i? a very fine piece of political "Muff," and does credit to its' author. The electors, however, are noE as verdant ws' they may appear. They have ibeen caught with this kind of chaff before. Once bitten, twice shy; or, as the learned Sir Jchn Findlay would say, experentia dccet.
