.—— —♦ During the discussion -r-F the Estimates the other the necessity for importing a Pch'ce Commissioner from the Old Country was urged by several members-, and the Minister promised that tho matter would receive consideration. The practise of securing all the highlypaid officials of tire Dominion from tlk! Home country is one which does not commend, itself to the great bulk of the people. The Police Department might very well he controlled by an official who has\ received his training in the Dominion, and' there would appear to be no good reason why the Government should go outside for a Commissioner when one is required.
