WESTRALIAN ELECTIONS.
A good deal of interest is centred in the Westralian elections by reason of the fact that they are being helfl under a- system of preferential voting. That the Labe-ur Wvty should have been returned, to power under this system is evidence of a striking preponderance of Labour votes in the Western State. Whether the same result would have been attained iu other States under similar conditions is open to question. At ar.yrate, the system is one which is growing in favour in many parts of tii.- world, and it would not/-be surprising if some such reform were introduced in New Zealand ere long.
