QUITE BRITISH.

Tiro Attorney-General justifies his action in replying in a curt manner to a question put by a member of the Legislative Council, on the ground that he was following the practice of British Ministers. A blunt "No!" may be excused when it is given by a Minister who has to deal with questions- from six hundred im-embers.- When, however, it is given in answer to an important question addressed by one of forty members of the Legislative Council of New Zealand, it sounds "priggish." The Council said plainly yesterday that it wtt«. not satisfied with the answer, and expressed the hope that more information would be given concerning the Coronation invitations. It will be interesting to know whether the Attorney-General will pay deference to the wish of the Council in this matter.
