THE PAHIATUA SEAT.
Mr William Henry Hawkins lias announced himself a candidate for the Pahiatua seat at the coming election. M: Hawkins has every right to become a candidate, if he is so disposed. He has been a .candidate before, and for a brief (period occupied a seat in Parliament. The elector* are not likely to again trust their suffrages in his hand®, for he has not shown that he .possesses' any special qualifications for the position. On the contrary, he is a gentleman possessed of an uncontrollable bias on certain questions', and he allows this bias to get the better of him at times. He is also regarded as unreliable on political questions l . His platform oration® may gain for him a certain number of votes. They are not likely to put 'him into Parliament.
