MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The <mohtMy meeting of the Mastertqn Hospital Oomimdtfcee was held , yesterday morning, there being present Messrs : J. B. Keith (dsairnmn), ; .J.?O. Ewington, Ml J. H,' Jackson, X IkEller and H. O'Leary. The treasurer reported as follows: —^Receipts: Balance from last meeting £454 Os Id; patients' fees £73 1® 4d; subscriptions £6 2s Id; total, £533 3a" 6d. Expenditure: Salaries ■ 'tad wages £69 16s Bd,, rations £4O 16s> 3d, <irngs(, dressings, etc., £9 lis .lid, fuel and lighting £62 3s lid, printing and stationery lis, furniture and repairs 6s 6d, ineadenital £ll 6a 9& Balance at date £359 7s 3d, less outstanding cheques £2O 16s Bdi. The Matron reported as follows in regard to the number of patients in the Hospital: In hospital July 31st, , 15;, a/Jmitted-during August 34; dis'charged 15,' in hospital on August 31st, 24. « A letter was received from uhe In-qpectoi'-iGleneTal of Hospitals (Dr V&linitine) pointing out that it would he "of great advantage if tine Waira■rapa Hospital Board could arrange to nave one staff of nurses large enough to provide the requisite num"ber for each institnition under the. Alter some discussion, the following resolution was carried: That the t»mtaattee recommend this Board to witertain favourahily the proposals set but in Dr Valintine's letter, provided that tie proposals do not interfere with the eigjhjkihour nursing system now in vogue." The Matrpn .wrote suggesting that a tennis and croquet lawn should he j ,provided in the Hospataß grounds! , for tlhe use of thie nurses. Tlhe seor fetary was instructed to obtain an estimate of the cost of laying down an asphalt tennis court:
