| PRESENTED IN THE ASSEMBLY A SATISFACTORY POSITION. STATE HAS NO DEBT. j (Received Last Night, 9.30 o'clock.) I MELBOURNE, Sept. 14. In the Assembly the Treasurer delivered his Budget. The revenue was shown at £9,142,534, being £177,869 in excess of the estimates. The expenditure was £9,117,212, or £176,935 in excess of the estimate. Railways showed a surplus of £262,210, and State coal £915,578. The interest received in advances to land purchase, water trusts," "etc., exceeded the interest payable by £47,822. It.is claimed that these figures showed that there was no Victorian public debt, j Oversea trade was given at £38,190,842, an increase of twenty per' cent in three years. ! The State's production amounted to I £43,481,777, an increase of twenty per .cent. The bank deposits totalled £17,272,000, an increase of £2 10s per head in three years. The credit foncier system has proved highly sucpessful. The estimated revenue.for the current year is £9,686.000, and the expenditure £9,656,424.
