, A latter was read at last night's medting of the Masterton Borough Council from the Rangiora Borough Counoil,...in which it' was stated that there were, certain alaases of pictures being exhibited in New Zealand which were quite unfit for children's eyes. The letter added that they washed the Masterton Oounoil to assist in forming a Dominion censorsiMp. Or Ewungton said that from. his esperiemce suoh steps were unnecessary as. far as the Council was concerned. The pictures exhibited locally were of a perfectly harmless nature. Or Douaild said that his esperience had not been, similar to Or ; Ewang(ton'i&; . He .had witnessed a certain picture locally that was i noiihing more or less than an abomination. It had given people nigjhit-' mare and djsfrurbed the rest of young children. Or Prentice was of opinion, that local pictures were not objectionable. ' Or O'Leary said that Or Donald's .position w'ais like taking an excess of intoxicating liquor. He thought that if he had had such an experience he would not go again. Or Hoar said that from a Dominion standpoint a censorship should be formed. The Mayor moved "that a courteous, te'ifter be forwarded to the Rangiora Borough Council', stating that there was apparency nothing objectionable locally; but that.this Oounoil wtas prepared to support a Doiminion caiesoriship." The motion was seconded by Cr Hoar and oartried.
