THE GAMING BILL.
By thirty-five votes to sixteen;, the House of Representatives has passed the second reading of Mr Jennings' Gaming Bill, which is designed to re-, store the totalisator permits to fourteen country Racing Club®, which had practically wiped out by the Racing Commission. An. unique, feature of the division: on the second reading was that the Hon. D. Buddo, Minister of Internal Affairs, voted in favour of the Bill, which at once a stultification of the previous attitude of the Ministry. If Ministers offer deliberate snubs to Royal Commissions set up on their own motion, it will 'be impossible to induce men to act on. those Commissions in the future. If Mi* Jennings' Bill becomes law, a severe blow will be cast against the Ministry, of ■which Mr Buddo .is a member.
