THE MAORIS DEFEATED. By Telearavh—Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. The match Wellington v. Maoris was played here to-day im fine weather, and in the presence of a moderate attendance of the public. With the wind in their favour the Maoris made a fair showing in the first spell, but were on the defence most of the second. For Wellington, Cook, Tilyard, Daly, Hill, Sullivan, and Southeran scored, Mitchinson. oenverting four trie's. For the Maoris, Grace scored, Rawhiri converting. The game ended Wellington 26, Maoris 5. Cook's try was a brilliant effort, he securing the ball in his own 25 .and beat:>g the whole ( of the opposition in faco of a strong head wind.
