KNOX CHURCH.
ANNUAL CONGREGATIONAL TEA. Th& forty-fourth annual congregational tea and meeting in connection with the- Masterton Presbyterian Church was. held last evening. The meeting was attended by a large number of members and adherents of tihe church, and was considered by old members to be the ■most successful in the Church's history. An excellent sdt down tea, provided by the ladies, was partaken of at 5.30 o'clock, and tihe Rev. A. T. Thompson took the chair at 7.30 o'clock. The meeting was opened, by the singing of the 100 th Psalm, and the Rev. E. C. Tennant, of Martiniborough, offered a. prayer. The annual report, and balancesheet, as already published in tihe "Age," were read and carried amidst applause. The chairman mentioned the fact that according ■to the report the Church .now held the honourable position of being second on the list for the Wellington provincial district. Congratulatoiy speeches of a high order were delivered by the. Revs. E. C. Tennanit, L.. Thompson (Carterton), and. Chambers Mill (Paiiatua). •Mr Purcell Webb rendered a deEghitful organ solo in his usual finished style. During the evening two songs were sung by Miss Richards, and a recitation was •'given, by Miss W. Daniell, and each, item was much appreciated.
