Mr R. Buick leaves Mastcrton on Friday on a visit to Sydney. A Melbourne cable records the death of Mr Cassen, a member of the State Assembly. 1 The Hon. C. M. Luke, M.L.C., is at present confined to his bed with an attack of bronchitis. Councillor R. G. Welch will represent the Wairarapa South County Council at the Counties' Conference, in Wellington, this month. Mr H. D. Vickery has been appointed secretary of the Wellington Chamber of Commerce, out of over thirty applicants. Mr J-.,Sharkey, who has been aet-ing-stationmaster at Pialiiafcua forsev-' eral months past, has been transferred to Featherston.

Miss O'Sullivan, who has been close on three years in.charge of the taillinery department at theMartinborougfr' branch of the W.F.C.A., Ltd., has accepted an important position with a large firm in Gisborne. Mr J. Gordon Elliott, formerly of J Masterton, has been appointed manager of the Feilding branch of Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd. Mr Eliott's numerous friends in the Wairarapa will be pleased to hear of his preferment. Mr George Dryden, of Martinborough, has been appointed general manager for Mrs Niniwa, and has been given full charge of both the Tablelands and Whangamona properties. He intends to reside at the latter place. Mr W. T. Grundy, who is acting as Inspector for the Wellington Education Board during the absence of Inspector Tennant, and who is at present examining, the schools in the Masterton district, was headmaster of the Masterton school about twentyfive years ago. Dr H. Holland, who has been in practice in Pahiatua for some time past, has received an appointment as examining medical officer in connection with the Government Life Insuranpe Department, and left to-day for Gji'eytown, which will be; included, in his circuit. '. " : An old identity of Masterton, in the person of Mr William Shrader, passed away at the Masterton Hospital on Monday. The deceased, who was eighty years of age, had resided for about twelve months with Mrs Whitt> in Church Street."
