THE LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
There are indication® that the 'Government will struggle through the coming session without making appointments to fill the vacancies in the Legislative Council. As there is practically no important business to come before .tho House, the work of the revising Chamber—save the mark!:—will not be of a particularly onerous character. The hop© of a seat in the home for the weary will .probably induce a. few of the "old stagers" to ikeep itp 4o it in the coming elections. It may almost be taken for granted that should Messrs C. Hall, and F. Lawry, and T. Duncan, and H. G. Ell, and a few others of that ilk 'be given, a rest .by the electors, they would be translated to Vanother place."
