TE WHARAU.
Very heavy rains were-experienced here in the' early part of this week, and many of, the oldest settlers consider this to be the wettest season experienced on the East Coast for many years. As a result of itihe,rains the roads are in a very bad state, and several slips occurred, though none of a serious nature. The Te Wharau Rifle Club held its final shoot of the season on the range last Saturday, .when, a fair numiber of riflemen were present. Mr W. N. Kumaner was top scorer, and secures, the Club's shield. Mr S. Preshaw, manager at . "Brackenfield," received a rather nasty spill off his horse on Tuesday last. Mr Preshaw was leading a second horse at the time, and considers himself fortunate that he was not seriously hurt. He expects to be quite well in a few days. Mv W. Sullivan, of Gleniburn, passed through this week on his way to Masterton to consult a doctor about his hand, which is rather badly poisoned. There have been quite-, a numiber of men on the Glenfrurn and Flat Point stations on. the sick list (this .winiter. Mr A. "P. Roydhouse is at present engaged in canvassing the district oast of the Maungarakis with the Electoral Roll. ~ Mr Ivans, Stock Inspector for South Wairarapa, has taken up his duties again, after an absence of six months in; the Old Country. Mr James Moodie, of Carterton, is spending his winter vacation at "Moodyville."
