FIVE HUNDRED NEW PEERS.
ACTION OV THE GOVERNMENT. (Received Lust Night, 10.10 o'clock.) LONDON, July 12. The Unionist leaders are holding meetings and considering whether they will force the Government to carry the Parliament Bill with freih Peers or be satisfied. It is possible that the new Peers created will offer no resistance. The Yorkshire Post and Birmingham Post deprecate the Peers prolonging the conteot till the Crown' swamps their resistance. " The Telegraph expects that the Government will not consent to remove Home Rule outside the scope of the Bill, or recognise the necessity f-n- a referendum; bur. will accept the . inclusion of the Crown and Protestant 'Succession from the Bill. They will reject Lord Cromer's Joint Committee for Money Bills, but will agree to a purely House of Commons Committee, under the Speaker, and accept Lord Newton's amendment as n ) new clause. I The Welsh Liberals, in expectation i of the adoption of the Bill, are organ- / ising a campaign in favour of Dis-es-j tablishment. It is expected that the House of I Lords will read the Bill a third time on Tuesday. The House of Commons will then consider the position immediately. The Master of Elibank has completed a list of five hundred Peers, including a number of members of the House of Commons, which will necessitate by-elections. i't their constituencies i have led many Unioni-ts to believe that a general election is imminent.
