MASTERTON'S FISHPONDS.
The hope is very generally .enteitained that the Wellington Acclimatisation Society will .succeed in, acquiring th© freehold of the land upon which the Masterton fishponds and ihatoheries stand. Tame was when the ponds were a source of pleasure to residents and visitors to tihe town. The near approach of the termination of the lease, however, has resulted in their being neglected. If the freehold of the land can be acquired, there is> every reason, to 'Suppose, that Masterton will 'have restored to it one of its .most valuable assets.
