Considerable public interest is being manifested in the musical and literary competitions which commence in Masterton to-morrow. The promoters of these competitions are inspired with a commendable zeal for the im-. provement of musical and literary tastes among the people of the district, and with a worthy ambition to attract visitors to the town. The initial effort, though it will doubtless reveal minor mistakes, (promises to be an unqualified success.
