PICTURE SHOWS.
It is very much to be regretted that it should be (found necessary to institute a public agitation—as lias been done in the South Island—for the suppression of (picture films wihioli (lia.ve a demoralising effect upon the minds of the young. There seems, however, to be no other course open. The managers of picture entertainments' have been given the hint that it«hey -should exercise greater care in tthe selection of films, and if they have failed to take this hint, they -will (hare only themselves to .blame .if the public demands a rigid censorship. It would be a, thousand pities if a healthy form of entertainment were destix>yed by the desire of a certain, class of managers, to cater for the lewd and immoral.
